Douglas Eger

Biography

Douglas Eger

Biography

  • Douglas Eger is the Chairman and CEO of Intrinsic Exchange Group (IEG), a financial innovation firm that is revolutionizing natural capital financing by pioneering the Natural Asset Company (NAC) model. Douglas created the Natural Asset Company model to ensure that the holistic value of nature is accounted for in the global economy, and to forge a pathway for rapidly addressing biodiversity loss and climate change.

Following the development of the model in 2013, Douglas established IEG in 2017. This builds on an accomplished career spent developing promising ideas into vibrant companies in finance, technology, health-care, and media.

Douglas is also the Founder and CEO of Entertaining Ideas, a media and idea incubator, which incubated IEG. His media accomplishments include being Executive Producer of War/Dance (2007), the Academy-nominated and Emmy-winning documentary about Ugandan child soldiers, and Shoot Down (2008), the Jury Award-winning documentary at the Sonoma Valley Film Festival. Douglas also appears in the 2026 feature documentary How To Live On Earth, presented by Benedict Cumberbatch, where he discusses the Natural Asset Company (NAC) model and explores how we can build a thriving future by working with nature, not against it.

Prior to IEG, Douglas was Chairman of Pet360, which was sold to PetSmart in 2014. He also previously served as Chairman and CEO of AMEX-listed Sheffield Pharmaceuticals, and was Founder of TechSource and Co-Founder of Kachina Capital.

As a conservation buyer, Douglas partnered with The Open Space Institute and The Trust for Public Lands to preserve 7,000 acres of land and restore two historical estates 100 miles northwest of New York City.
