  • Mark Newton, is an award winning director based out of Hollywood, California. He is also a producer, writer and VFX supervisor. Mark uses his VFX background to visualize complex effects shots in his movies. Having the eye to see how a shot will look after the VFX are added and oversee all the effects shots in a movie to completion, makes him a valuable asset.

    Receiving his bachelors, degree from the Art Institute in 2000, he learned filmmaking and visual effects. After doing several short films, Mark moved from Phoenix, Arizona to Hollywood, California in 2008. While working at several major studios as an effects artist and animator, Mark started filming his first feature-length movie. Mark directed, produced and wrote the science fiction horror movie "The Dreadnoughts" (2009). Soon after Director Mark Newton started production on the feature "City of Darkness" (2010). In 2011 Mark co-produced "A Happy Apocalypse". In 2012, Mark wanted to try directing comedy, so he did the short "The Revenge". The Revenge, got into the Los Angeles, comedy film festival and won several awards. After the success of the revenge, Mark decided to direct a feature length comedy called, "Hit Team". Hit Team, went into production in 2012 and was completed in 2013. Mark directed "Kudzu Zombies" now renamed "Attack of the Southern Fried Zombies" in 2016, filmed on location in Mississippi. Attack of the Southern Fried Zombies won Mark the goriest film award at The FANtastic Horror Film Fest. He also produced "A Hollow Point" (2017) and directed "Too Far Gone" and "Behind Her Eyes" in 2017. Other upcoming directing projects include "Hunter" and "Kill Mountain" and the sequel to Southern Fried Zombies .

  • Mark likes to film with natural light and do long takes. The feature Hit Team was filmed with all natural light. The Revenge, was all shot in one take (a ten minute short) with mostly natural lighting.
