Robert Parry was born on June 24, 1949 in Hartford, Connecticut, USA. He was married to Diane Duston. He died on January 27, 2018 in Arlington, Virginia, USA.

Parry and his writing partner Brian Barger broke the story of Oliver North,s link to the Contras attacking the leftist government in Nicaragua, during the Reagan administration.

His stroke and passing away was caused by undiagnosed pancreatic cancer that he had been unknowingly living with for the past 4-5 years.
