Costume Designer . On Swift Horses

Biography

Jeriana San Juan

Mini bio

  • Jeriana San Juan is an Emmy and Guild-nominated costume designer recognized by Variety as one of its "Artisans Up Next" and cited by Vogue as a "leading talent in costume design".

Recent work includes M3GAN 2.0, the genre bending Sci-fi action blockbuster from Universal Pictures and On SWIFT HORSES, a 1950s-era drama from Sony Pictures starring Jacob Elordi and Daisy Edgar-Jones. San Juan earned an Emmy Nomination for her work transforming Ewan McGregor into HALSTON for the eponymous Netflix limited series which brought 3 decades of iconic fashion to life. In Baz Luhrmann’s THE GET DOWN, her vibrant costume design captured the energy of New York in the early 1970s and was cited by the New York Times and Vogue as unique and original, transcending the screen with influence to culture and fashion. The project earned San Juan the 2017 ACE Award for Style Influencer of the Year and established her as one of New York's leading costume designers. Additional career-defining work includes Netflix’s #1 film of 2023, THE MOTHER starring Jennifer Lopez; David Simon’s 1940's era HBO drama THE PLOT AGAINST AMERICA; and the acclaimed USA series THE SINNER and FX’s Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, where her costumes embodied the rebellious spirit of a 1980s rock band.

San Juan began her career at NBC’s SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE during the tenure of Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Kristen Wiig, work for the Broadway stage including The Tony Award-winning original production of LEGALLY BLONDE: The Musical, as well as MADONNA's STICKY & SWEET world tour. Her path into the arts was shaped at a young age with an upbringing backstage with the Joffrey Ballet, where her mother was a ballet dancer. San Juan cites this time as essential, informing her deep understanding of fabric, light, music and movement and summers learning the craft of dressmaking from her Cuban grandmother. San Juan is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology and serves on FIT’s Film and Television Advisory Board. Her work and sartorial perspective have been featured in The New York Times, Vogue, Marie Claire, and Vanity Fair, among others. She currently resides in New York with her family.
