Marc-André Lavoie is a Canadian film director, screenwriter and producer based in Montreal, Quebec. He co-directed Bluff (2007) with Simon Olivier Fecteau, and subsequently directed Tough Luck (2010), Hot Dog (2013), Innocent (2017) and Crise d'ado (2025). He received the Best Director award at the 2018 Canada China International Film Festival for Innocent.
A founder and creative director of AI Studios, Lavoie collaborates with Adrien Bodson through Orange Films on AI filmmaking and hybrid production, combining cinematic storytelling with generative AI, animation and visual effects. In 2026, they co-directed the science-fiction short Into the Unknown. The film earned second place in the Film Track, the Panalux Award and joint third place for Best Use of Popcorn at Big Screen Hack in Cannes. It also won Best Sci Fi Film in the July 2026 edition of the Los Angeles AI Motion Pictures Awards.
Lavoie and Bodson also created the animated project Backyard Galaxy, which won Best Kids Animation in the same July competition and received an honorable mention in animation at Warsaw Glitch 2026. A feature-length version of Backyard Galaxy is in development.
