Biography

Payton Koch is an Emmy-nominated picture editor with a diverse range of post-production credits on popular television series, including American Horror Story (2011), Ratched (2020), and Only Murders in the Building (2021). Payton's innovative work on the hit Hulu comedy series has led to two nominations at the ACE Eddie Awards, as well as his career's first Primetime Emmy nomination in 2024. His editing expertise has been instrumental in shaping compelling narratives and enhancing viewer engagement across each of these acclaimed shows.

The grandson of Hawk Koch (Wayne's World (1992), Chinatown (1974), and a past President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences), Payton began his filmmaking journey at a young age. Experimenting with iMovie and crafting short films sparked his interest in editing and laid the foundation for his future career. This early enthusiasm led him to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Film Production with a focus on Editing from Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts.
