Jan Hoet
Jan Hoet was a seminal Belgian curator whose practice decisively shaped the institutional and discursive terrain of late twentieth-century contemporary art. Trained as an art historian, he rose to prominence as the founding director of the Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst (S.M.A.K.) in Ghent, where he advanced a curatorial model grounded less in academic formalism than in phenomenological encounter.
