Biography

Jason Buff is an award-winning fine art photographer and filmmaker based in Mérida, Yucatán. Originally from North Carolina and a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, he began his career in Los Angeles in the mid-1990s, working on film and commercial productions for a variety of companies such as Paramount, MTV Films, Coke, Nike, and CNN. A dedicated writer, he also worked as a freelance script analyst for companies including Alliance Atlantis Productions before transitioning into writing, producing, and directing his own short films and music videos. From 2013 to 2017, Buff founded and hosted Indie Film Academy, an award-winning podcast and educational platform for emerging filmmakers.

Today, Buff is best known for his signature style of fine art portraiture and his work as an international educator and speaker. Since 2017, he has led hundreds of sold-out workshops worldwide, teaching his unique approach to lighting and post-production. Jason is also a vocal advocate for Autism and ADHD awareness, and has openly shared his own personal struggles with both.
