Graduated from the I.K. Karpenko-Kary Kyiv State Institute of Theatrical Art (now I. K. Karpenko-Karyi Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television), acting department.
Graduated from GITIS, directing department (headed by Andrey Nikolaev).
Upon graduation, he worked at the institute as an actor in the Vinnytsia and Odessa Philharmonic. In the 80s-90s, an actor in Kyiv theaters: the Variety Theater, the Golden Gate Theater, the Stern Jewish Theater, the Kyiv Academic Theater on the Left Bank of the Dnieper. He worked at the Kyiv Bravo Theater.
He worked on Ukrainian television - the host and creator of the projects "Golden Goose", "White Crow", "I have erected a monument to myself ...".
The elder brother of producer Alexander Tsekalo.
Since 2020 he has been living and working in Moscow.
