- Regularfoot surfer Jackie Baxter was born in 1948 in Huntington Beach, California. Baxter first started surfing at age 11 in 1959 near his home in Venice Beach, California. Jackie moved to Hawaii at age 20. While in Hawaii Baxter was not only invited to the Expression Session events in both 1970 and 1971, but also was invited to participate in the 1971 Duke Kahanamoku Classic. Moreover, Jackie earned a reputation as an especially gutsy and fearless surfer by throwing himself into the hairiest places on waves while doing free-form sessions at both the Pipeline and Sunset Beach in Hawaii. Vardeman Surfboards introduced the Jackie Baxter signature model surfboard in 1967 designed by Bruce Jones. Baxter moved back to California in 1974. The father of professional longboard surfer Josh Baxter, Jackie was inducted into the Huntington Beach Surfing Walk of Fame in 2009.
