Biography

Nicole De la Mora

Mini bio

  • Like most photographers, I suspect, I find sharing a biography difficult; it is far too easy to sound as if I take myself far too seriously. But it's kinda important, apparently, so here is a simple review.

I was raised in Northern Mexico, near the border with the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. My roots in art began with studying violin in the youth orchestra from 7 years old til 19. Later, when I moved to Monterrey, Mexico, I discovered photography and video as new forms of self-expression. Music, however, has always been my main language and the lens through which I interpret anything film-related. The open landscapes and empty roads of Texas during my childhood created a connection that has deeply influenced my photographic career.

In 2002, I moved to Mexico City to start in the film industry, gaining experience across all types of projects and formats, from documentaries to commercials, and from 16mm and 35mm to digital. I love landscape cinematography; it feels like home to me, but I also love how human forms blend with the landscape to tell stories. I spent four years as an Arri Camera technical advisor and workshop facilitator at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) in Mexico City, and I am currently (2024) working as a cinematographer on film projects and ad campaigns.
