James is a British actor based between Los Angeles and London, known for his commanding screen presence and versatility across historical, action, and thriller genres. He is best known for his portrayal of Blackbeard in Netflix’s The Lost Pirate Kingdom, a performance that helped establish him as a formidable leading man in epic, character-driven storytelling.
In recent years, James has continued to build a strong international profile. His credits include portraying John the Baptist in FOX Nation’s Jesus: Crown of Thorns, and starring as lead antagonist Marcus Novak in the Paramount+ action thriller High Ground, opposite Jon Voight, Katherine McNamara, and Henry Thomas.
He went on to lead the survival thriller Savage Hunt as Joe Regan, a physically demanding, one-man fight for survival set in the Montana wilderness, directed by Roel Reiné. James then took on the title role of Peter in Mauro Borrelli’s The Last Supper, starring alongside James Faulkner and Robert Knepper, which received a wide Easter 2025 theatrical release across more than 2,000 screens in the U.S. and Canada.
Closing out 2024, James appeared as Dismas in Alejandro Monteverde’s biblical epic ‘Zero AD’, alongside Deva Cassel, Sam Worthington, Ben Mendelsohn, Gael García Bernal, and Jim Caviezel. Following their collaboration, James is working once again with Monteverde this year, continuing a creative partnership rooted in large-scale, prestige storytelling. Zero AD is set for an IMAX theatrical release in 2026.
Most recently, James has appeared as lead cast in Indie drama, ‘Pretty Boy Delaney’, featuring ‘Sinners’, Jack O’Connell, as well as starring in the lead role of Samuel Thorn in the supernatural film-noir feature ‘Angels In Darkness, opposite Ron Perlman and Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding Jr. Both are also slated for release in 2026
