Biography

Darryl "Koi" Pugh was born in Washington, DC and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Nicknamed "Koi" he has been around video production and filmmaking his whole life as his parent's have owned and operated a video production company since 1980 producing award winning documentary films. He would often tag along with his father to work at the local TV news station and BET during his teenage years. Koi's background and beginnings set the stage for his extensive filmmaking career.

After high-school Koi attended Norfolk State University majoring in Advertising-Marketing. Koi's professional career started at one of the largest Post-Production facilities on the East Coast (Henninger Media Services) as a Duplication Technician. There he learned the ins and outs of the post-production industry as he moved up the ranks within the company from the tape room, to editor, to becoming an expert in interactive media design and production. Working on commercials and interactive content with the industry's top Ad agencies, Television channels and Studios such as The Martin Agency, The Discovery Channel, National Geographic, FOX and Warner Bros he has proven to be an asset on any project he's involved with. During his interactive media career Koi has produced over 400 DVD titles for studio and independent films, documentaries and television shows both domestic and internationally.

Moving to Los Angeles, Koi stepped away from producing interactive media content and pursued his dream to work at a major Hollywood Studio where he landed a career changing position as a Media Engineer at Disney TV Animation Studios. Koi then took a role as Post-Production Supervisor at Modern VideoFilm, before acquiring his current role as Senior Channel Producer and Creative Director at the global financial firm Capital Group. As an independent filmmaker he's produced narrative films both short and feature, scripted and non-scripted TV series, music videos and commercials. His experience in production, post-production, marketing and interactive media makes him the perfect fit for Producing and Directing Independent content for the new age.
