Aliethea D'Angelo
Aliethea D’Angelo is a writer-director drawn to films where the inner life becomes the visible world - sensory, emotionally immersive stories shaped by memory, desire, and psychological pressure. Her approach to The Crying Man, an Academy Nicholl Fellowship, frames horror as atmosphere rather than mechanics: a modern folktale where childhood fear, motherhood, and inherited trauma become tactile, hypnotic, and alive.

D’Angelo began her career on Ocean’s Eleven, building a filmmaker’s education from the ground up across studio sets, independent films, commercials, music videos, and documentary work. Her directing work includes Normal, an Official Selection of the Los Angeles Lift-Off Film Festival and Chicago Indie Film Awards, and a Finalist at the New York International Women's Film Festival; and Elephant in the Room, an Official Selection of HollyShorts, the Chicago International Reel Shorts Film Festival, and the Austin Film Festival, and a Finalist at LA Shorts. She also co-wrote, produced, and starred in L’Une et L’Autre, which screened at the Palais in 2007. As a writer, her screenplay Things We Leave Behind received high scores on The Black List and recognition from Slamdance and the Sundance Film Festival Lab; she also wrote The Spy Called Pauline, a WWII biopic about Krystyna Skarbek.

Alongside her directing practice, D’Angelo brings the command of a producer who has worked across studio, streamer, and independent spaces, including Paramount, NBC, Apple TV, and Amazon. Her producing credits include Misdirection, starring Olga Kurylenko and Frank Grillo; The Disruptors, starring Marc Evan Jackson, Catherine Curtin, Gregory Alan Williams, and Mary Beth Barone; and Paint, starring Heather Matarazzo and Callum Blue. She is the co-founder of ELO96 Productions.
