Biography

Gordon Smuder was born in Anoka, MN in 1966. His parents, Samuel Ira Smuder Jr. and Patricia Smuder named him after Leroy Gordon Cooper the Apollo astronaut. He attended school in Elk River, MN and graduated from Elk River Senior High in 1984. He is a puppeteer and special effects model and prop builder. Gordon has been the principal studio manager for Minnefex, Inc. located in Minneapolis, MN since January 1, 1991. Along with independent film maker Michael J. Heagle, Gordon co-created the internet (and broadcast) comedy Transylvania Televison... an all-puppet sitcom for mature audiences.

Unfortunately there are MANY people who think they can direct a movie because they saw Star Wars! As a professional puppeteer, I see this mindset all the time. But everybody *thinks* they can do stand-up because they can tell a joke. And everybody *thinks* they can sing because they take a shower. And everybody *thinks* they can be a puppeteer because they imitate Kermit the Frog. That is, of course, until they actually have to do it. And then they most often fail horribly. Everybody is a self-styled expert. And when we have the internet enabling all of us to broadcast our uneducated opinions 24-7, that delusion is not halted.
