Biography

Douglas is an LA-based, festival award-winning Film Composer and classically trained Violinist/Pianist who has scored over 60 films and productions. Douglas was raised in San Antonio and writes music for media while based in Los Angeles. He graduated from the University of North Texas with a BA in Music Composition and is a member of ASCAP.

Worked in a mental health outpatient clinic for four years after graduating from school.

Has a younger brother born in Austin, and a younger sister who was born in Germany, the same year that the Chernobyl disaster occurred.

Took 15 years of classical piano lessons, 9 years of classical violin lessons, 6 years of composition lessons, and 2 years of classical guitar classes.

Is unable to donate blood due to living in Germany as a kid for three years.

Was born in California in a hospital on Travis Air Force Base.

A single well-performed orchestral instrument is much more impactful to my ears than an entire digital symphony. That is why I am such an advocate for using real instruments in place of their synthetic replicas.

I believe the most important aspect of any piece of music is the delicate use of emotion. The right type of emotion, the right amount, and at just the right time.
