Mark Alberts is a Toronto-based VFX Supervisor, animator, and founder of Electric Square, an award-winning animation and visual effects studio established in 2004. With over two decades of experience, he has delivered visual effects and CG animation for feature films, television series, and documentaries, collaborating with broadcasters and partners including CBC, TVO, Netflix, ARTE, and NHK.
Alberts is known for his hands-on approach, overseeing projects from concept through final delivery while working closely with filmmakers to craft visual styles that prioritize story over spectacle. His expertise spans compositing, animation, camera tracking, and motion capture, with recent work incorporating real-time workflows in Unreal Engine.
He began experimenting with storytelling at a young age through cartooning, collage, and stop-motion animation, later moving into DIY video production. This early foundation continues to inform his work, blending traditional techniques with modern digital tools.
