Lynne Robinson is an award-winning producer, director, and founder of Black Robin Media, a television, museum, and digital media production company. With an expertise in history, pop culture, sports, and public affairs, she has produced a multitude of programming for networks including PBS, the Smithsonian Channel, BET, TV One, Audible Originals, YouTube Originals, Discovery Communications, National Geographic, AspireTV, and NBA Entertainment, as well as institutions such as the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, The National Center for Civil and Human Rights, The National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel, The Muhammad Ali Center, The William Jefferson Clinton Library, and The Basketball Hall of Fame.

In addition to the 2025 PBS documentary Chautauqua at 150: Wynton Marsalis’ All Rise, Robinson has earned several recent credits on television programs, documentaries and podcasts including executive producer, writer and director of entrepreneur, author, and star of ABC’s Shark Tank Daymond John’s 2024 Audible Originals series On the Line with Daymond John as he provides his billion-dollar business insights and strategies to celebrities, top CEO’s, and new business owners such as Anthony Anderson, Tiffany Haddish, Reid Hoffman, Kendra Scott and more. She was director of the 2023 BET documentary BLACK+ICONIC: Style Gods, celebrating Black icons and pioneers of style and fashion, hosted by award-winning actor, singer, producer, playwright and activist Billy Porter. And she was an executive producer of the 2022 MPT and Firelight Films documentaries Harriet Tubman: Visions of Freedom and Becoming Frederick Douglass, which both aired on PBS.

Robinson directed and produced the 2021 Audible Originals Daymond John: Founding FUBU, featuring Daymond John’s captivating personal memoir about New York’s hip-hop scene in the 90’s and how his passion for rap culture led he and three of his childhood friends to start the iconic fashion label FUBU. She was also the Executive Producer of the award-winning 2021 Smithsonian Channel documentary Reclaiming History: Our Native Daughters which follows international folk superstars Grammy award-winning artist Rhiannon Giddens, Leyla McCalla, Allison Russell, and Amythyst Kiah on their inaugural American concert tour, exploring the captivating stories behind the album’s instrumentation and lyrics, and the issues of gender, race, liberation, and the legacy of slavery in folk music.

Robinson’s previous works include serving as the executive producer and director of AspireTV’s series Icons, Idols and Influencers featuring comedian Chris Spencer’s one-on-one interviews with celebrities including Tracee Ellis Ross, Magic Johnson, Regina Hall and Lil Rel; executive producer of Steve Harvey: Act Like A Success, Think Like A Success, featuring TV host, author and comedian Steve Harvey performing a one-man show based on his best-selling book of the same name; and executive producer of the talk series Exhale featuring co-hosts Issa Rae, Malinda Williams, Rene Syler, Angela Burt-Murray and Erin Jackson engaging in provocative conversations with celebrities and experts about topics including relationships, social justice, sexuality, faith and wellness. Robinson’s works also include the TV One special In Conversation: The Senator Barack Obama Interview, which as the executive producer, producer, and director, she won a 2008 NAACP Image Award. She followed up the success of this show, with In Conversation: The Michelle Obama Interview garnering a second NAACP Image Award in 2009.

Robinson is the executive producer and director of the films and media produced by Black Robin Media for the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture’s (NMAAHC) exhibition Afrofuturism: A History of Black Futures which opened in March 2023. This follows her previous work with NMAAHC, including the honor of leading Black Robin Media’s producers, writers, editors, and designers in the production of several large-format films and media presentations featured in the Sports, Musical Crossroads, Taking the Stage and Power of Place permanent galleries.
