Manoj Punjabi (born on December 7th 1972) is an award winning producer, CEO and founder of MD Pictures, Indonesia's largest media software company, and is the only one listed on the Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX) to date. The company boasts integrated data systems and cutting edge facilities spanning the entire production value chain. MD Pictures seeks to entertain, educate and inspire audiences, and to be a front-runner in the local film industry through innovation, collaboration and the consistent production of high value films and shows.
Since childhood, he has been passionate about the art of movie making. According to him, the world of cinema is an industry that has promising potential and prospect to positively impact lives. This is his inspiration to always strive for the next innovations in movie making. All his successes lead Indonesia Tatler magazine to call him the "King of Soap Operas & Movies" in Indonesia.
With his hard work and dedication, Manoj has succeeded in making MD Pictures the number one film studio in Indonesia. Various awards were also achieved from the greatest Indonesian films such as "Ayat-Ayat Cinta" (2008) and "Habibie & Ainun" (2012) which reached the highest audience in Indonesia, up to 4.7 million movie viewers. Manoj reinvented the horror movie genre with the release of "Danur: I Can See Ghosts" in 2016, again setting box office records and created the continusuccess of 'Danur Universe' to date.
In August 2020 PT MD Pictures Tbk is excited to announce a series of groundbreaking partnerships that will bring MD Pictures' popular films and original series to millions of new Indonesian consumers online and on demand. During the pandemic consumers have increasingly turned to online services for their video entertainment. A recent study on Southeast Asian online viewing trends by Media Partners Asia reports that online video consumption has jumped over 60% in the first two quarters of this year. This growth is soon to be accelerated by the increasing availability of great MD Pictures content distributed by its online video partners, including WeTV, iflix, Viu, Netflix, and Disney+Hotstar.
"We realize that the effect of the pandemic is going to last much longer than a few months, stated Manoj Punjabi, "But whether this lasts 6 months or 18 months or more, the impact on our world is already huge and the film world needs to think big about how to respond. This September 5, MD Pictures will release three brand new highly anticipated feature films directly on Disney+ Hostar for the first time, including Sabar Ini Ujian by Anggy Umbara starring Vino G Bastian and Luna Maya, Pelukis Hantu by Arie Kriting starring Ge Pamungkas and Michelle Ziudith, along with Bidadari Mencari Sayap by Aria Kusumadewa starring Rizky Hanggono, Leony VH and Deddy Mizwar.
