- Karen Wentzell is a Nova Scotia-based Producer and President of Waterstar Entertainment. Her focus is on scripted comedy and female-driven, socially conscious drama. Waterstar series have collectively earned 30 Canadian Screen Award (CSA) nominations. Series and features which Karen has produced have received almost 40 CSA nominations and multiple awards. Karen has produced well over 60 hours of television. She served as EP on seasons 2, 3 and 4 of Diggstown for CBC with Creator Floyd Kane. She recently produced the Hallmark movie "The Secret Gift of Christmas" which had the highest ratings in its premiere time slot in the U.S. amongst all cable sports and entertainment shows. Karen also recently produced the feature film The Madones about schizophrenia. It was released by LevelFilm early in 2024. She partnered as EP with Force Four Entertainment on the critically acclaimed comedy series Seed. Karen is known for her work as producer of the successful hit television series Trailer Park Boys. She helped guide TPB through seasons 2-7 as well as both MOWs and the first two features. She's been a board member for the NS film commission (Screen Nova Scotia) since 2015 and is serving her third term as Vice-Chair. She is a long time member of the CMPA. She is committed to growing the industry in N.S. and representing the underrepresented voice both on and off screen.
