Biography

Philip Covin is an American actor who was born in Sylva, North Carolina and grew up mainly in Georgia. His love of performing was apparent at the age of five, as he attempted to entertain others by wearing his Halloween costumes in public year-round. Raised by a mother who is a nurse and a father who is a Presbyterian minister, the principles of hard work, kindness, and compassion were instilled in him at an early age. Philip has a brother who teaches high school social studies.

Covin had his first acting experiences at a young age in church and school plays. Later, while working on his undergraduate business degree at the University of Georgia, he signed up for an acting class as an elective and became intrigued with the craft. After graduation, he began doing local theatre and has since studied with Atlanta instructors/working actors Jayson Warner Smith, Claire Bronson, Scott Poythress, Matthew Cornwell, Brooke Jaye Taylor, and Vince Pisani, among others. Covin has performed in national commercials, film, television, and on the stage, all while spending two decades as a successful commercial real estate broker.

Philip and his wife Amy enjoy their life in Atlanta with her son. Besides spending time with his family, he is an avid reader and enjoys hiking in the Appalachian Mountains and playing guitar.

Although guitar is his favorite musical instrument, he also played the trumpet for many years and dabbles with the piano, cello, and blues harp.

Played trumpet in the University of Georgia Redcoat Marching Band during his college years, including a performance during the halftime show at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FL.

Attended Pierce County High School in Georgia, the same small-town high school as actresses KaDee Strickland, Nikki DeLoach, and outlaw country singer Elizabeth Cook.
