- Liane Bruylants was born on January 6, 1921 in Berchem, Flanders, Belgium. Liane was a writer, known for Liefde in Transit (1959), Schipper naast God (1954) and De wereld gaat aan vlijt ten onder (1958). Liane died on March 25, 2009 in Wilrijk, Flanders, Belgium.
- Liane was the daughter of August Bruylants and Gabriella Franssen (1899-1974), a celebrated opera singer and later the founder of the Flemish Chamber Opera under the pseudonym Francine Bruylants.

- Liane studied at the Royal Athenaeum in Antwerp (Old Humaniora) and at the Secondary Normal School in Antwerp, where she got to know Hubert Lampo among others. She also studied music theory, singing, and piano at the Music Academy in Berchem Conservatory in Antwerp and at Academia in Borsbeek, and became a teacher in the Germanic languages.
- Bruylants made her debut in 1945 with Schaduw en spiegel, a collection of poems, and became known for her play Eva Brandes from 1951.
- Her life partner Frans Buyle commits suicide in 1977 - hanging with an electric cord - in Antwerp. Later, Liane marries Guido De Sutter, the man who provides her with the security and peace that she had so sorely missed until then.
