Biography

Nana Ghana is a Ghanaian born actor, director, and writer whose work spans film, television, documentary, and theater. As an actor, Ghana’s latest television credit includes Hulu’s All’s Fair. She gained recognition for her breakout co starring performance in White Rabbit, which premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, where she was named an "Ones to Watch" talent by Entertainment Weekly and People magazine. Her additional film and television credits include Babylon, What/If, Mighty Oak, Lost Transmissions, and Clowning, appearing alongside Brad Pitt, Sarah Paulson, Niecy Nash, Simon Pegg, and Glenn Close. Behind the camera, Ghana made her directorial debut with the short film Water Warrior, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016. She later received Best Director at the Oregon Short Film Festival for her short film Electing. Her documentary feature LA Woman Rising, executive produced and narrated by Rosario Dawson, received a theatrical release in 2019. During the pandemic, Ghana wrote, directed, produced, and starred in her second feature film, You Are Always Right Here, continuing her work as a multidisciplinary filmmaker both in front of and behind the camera. Her work also extends to theater. Ghana wrote, directed, and starred in Pelvic Floor, which ran in Los Angeles in the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Across her work as both an actor and filmmaker, Ghana is drawn to emotionally complex characters and stories exploring identity, survival, womanhood, displacement, and belonging. Her perspective as an immigrant artist informs a body of work that bridges intimate independent storytelling with contemporary film and television.
