Biography

Schuyler G. Chapin was born on February 13, 1923 in New York City, New York, USA. He was a producer, known for Bernstein in London: Verdi's Requiem (1970), Bernstein on Beethoven: A Celebration in Vienna (1970) and Great Performances (1971). He was married to Elizabeth Steinway. He died on March 7, 2009 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA.

Was a close personal friend of Leonard Bernstein, and made arrangements for many of his concerts and television programs.

Former head of the Metropolitan Opera and of Columbia Masterworks Records (now Sony Masterworks).

Former Dean of Columbia University's School of the Arts.
