Clay Felker was born on October 2, 1925 in Webster Groves, Missouri, USA. He was a producer, known for What's Going on Here? (1963) and Charlie Rose (1991). He was married to Gail Sheehy, Pamela Tiffin and Leslie Rhoda Blatt. He died on July 1, 2008 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA.

Former editor of "Esquire" magazine, founder and publisher of "New York" magazine.

He graduated from Duke University, where he was editor of the student newspaper. His first journalism job out of college was as a sportswriter for Life magazine.

He published, edited, and wrote for dozens of publications, including Life, Time, U.S. News and World Report, and the Village Voice.

He helped the careers of influential writers, such as Ken Auletta, Jimmy Breslin and Gloria Steinem.
