Biography

Farhad was born and raised in New Delhi, India. A photography class at school introduced him to the magical world of telling stories with images. In 2012, he moved to Los Angeles as a Cinematography fellow at the American Film Institute, and now lives and works in LA. He has served as Director of Photography on a number of short and feature films including 'Prism', 'Rene', 'The Wild, The Child, and the Miracle' & 'The Last Marble', gathering critical acclaim at festivals across the globe. Farhad believes in the affirmative power of the narrative film form, and through his work, strives to connect the personal with the universal.

Farhad is an Indian cinematographer working in Los Angeles. Born and raised in New Delhi, a photography class at school introduced him to the magical world of telling stories with images.

Films have played a formative role building his emotional, social, and political identity - he recognizes the medium's power to affect change one viewer at a time. Farhad believes in the affirmative power of the narrative film form, and strives to create compassion & empathy by taking the audience on a journey through the protagonist's eyes.

His film 'Women is Losers' is set to premiere at the SXSW Film Festival 2021, and the film 'Green' was recognized at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival with the Short Film Jury award for US Fiction. His narrative work also includes the feature films 'Futra Days' and 'Prism', and shorts 'A Crimson Man', 'I See You', and 'Hacienda Paraiso'. He has lensed branded commercial spots for brands such as, Amazon, Google, & Pampers.

As an immigrant and a person of color, he brings a unique perspective to the stories he helps tell, and delights in photographing the unspoken relationships that permeate daily interactions. When he isn't working, Farhad spends time hiking, reading, and at a community ceramics studio.
