Mini bio

  • Go Jibiki is a Japanese actor born in Tokyo. Due to his father's business, he spent his early life in Singapore (1983-86) and New York (1986-89), which led to his fluency in English.

He began his acting studies at the age of 14 when he joined the theatrical company "Wakakusa," where he remained until the age of 16. After graduating from the Department of Political Science in the Faculty of Law at Gakushuin University, he decided to further pursue his acting career. He entered the Acting Institute of Engeki Shudan En (Theatre Group 'En') and graduated in 2001.

His first screen role was in April Story (1998), directed by Shunji Iwai. In 2007, he began a significant professional relationship with legendary director Koji Wakamatsu, eventually appearing in five of his films. This included United Red Army, in which Jibiki played Tsuneo Mori, the leader of the group. The film was highly recognized internationally, winning the C.I.C.A.E. and NETPAC Prizes at the 58th Berlin International Film Festival.

Jibiki has also practiced Iaijutsu (a Japanese martial art focused on quick-draw sword techniques) for over 20 years under master Tetsuzan Kuroda. This long-term dedication to traditional martial arts allows him to integrate the discipline and aesthetic of Japanese culture into his acting, bringing a grounded presence and unique depth to the characters he portrays.
