Biography

  • Conley Wilson is a stuntman, actor and SFX (special effects) man. He was raised on a small farm in Muskogee, Oklahoma. His father, Leroy Wilson was a postal worker & his mother Lois Morgan Wilson was a licensed beautician, and he has one sister, LaDawn Wilson Archer. As a kid the family attended a rodeo in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He loved watching the bull riding & was mesmerized by the rodeo clown/bullfighters. Their cowboy saving bullfighting along with clown antics & acts stuck in Conley's head.

As a junior in high school he followed in the foot steps of his heroes and began rodeo clowning and fighting bulls. Turning professional at 19, he thrilled crowds fighting bulls, also bringing laughter and joy as well with his monologue's with the rodeo announcers and his clown acts. His clown acts were his introduction to SFX using black powder pyrotechnics. He still uses lessons learned then in his stunt, acting and SFX work in films.

In the 1980's Conley joined the Travis County Sheriffs department, Austin, Texas. As a deputy sheriff there he learned high speed driving, vehicle pursuit, weapons, police procedures and techniques.

As with many early stuntmen he comes from a rodeo background, has martial arts training, these with his law enforcement training make him a well rounded performer.

Conley was SFX coordinator on the 2021 Academy Award winning movie, "Minari". His work on this included one of the films climactic scenes, a large barn structure fire.

He also won an award at the 2021 Screamfest film festival. The jury prize for best SFX on, "What Josiah Saw". This award is shared with his good friend Cord Newman.
