Biography

Jonathan Michael Mahoney is a Cinematographer living and working in Los Angles, CA and NYC. Jonathan studied experimental film and film theory at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) where he graduated from the school of Film & Video, with an emphasis on 35mm Cinematography.

Before graduating from CalArts Jonathan lived and studied Cinematography in the Czech Republic, where he received another diploma in Cinematography from FAMU (Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague) in The Academy Cinematography Program.

He also earned another degree from SCC in Scottsdale Arizona, in Applied Sciences for Film and Video Production; as well as a diploma from The East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) in Video Production with an emphasis on Editing.

Jonathan has shot features, commercials, music videos, short films, and experimental films. He has shot for brands such as Apple, Samsung, LG, At&t, Ford, Volvo, Home Depot, Kohls, and Simple Human. He also has shot for networks such as CBS, FOX, MTV, Cartoon Network, Discovery, Animal Planet and for digital streaming platforms such as Crackle, SnapChat, Facebook, Amazon, Hulu, and Netflix.

From Guam to Cannes his work has received awards and been showcased in festivals, cinemas, online, and on t.v. around the world. Jonathan had the honor of being selected by Kodak to be an official 16mm film stock tester for Kodak's Vision 3 250D stock before its commercial release.

Aside from his work as a cinematographer, Jonathan occasionally works for other cinematographers and directors as a camera operator on features, shorts, commercials, episodics, and live productions.
