Biography

Gabriele Roberto is the only Italian composer to have received the prestigious Japan Academy Prize, awarded for his orchestral score for the celebrated movie 'Memories of Matsuko', directed by the iconic Tetsuya Nakashima. Remarkably, he won this honor over nominees including Maestro Joe Hisaishi.

He later earned a second nomination at the Japan Academy Awards for his work on 'Paco and the Magical Book', also directed by Nakashima, and starring Koji Yakusho, who recently won Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival.

Balancing his life between Japan and Italy, Gabriele has composed music for a diverse range of media, including films, TV series, globally broadcast animations, video games, and TV commercials for Japanese, Italian, and Chinese productions.

As an orchestrator, he has collaborated with some of Japan's most renowned pop stars. In 2016, he arranged the 20th-anniversary orchestral version of the iconic song 'Con Te Partirò - Time to Say Goodbye' for tenor Andrea Bocelli.

An alumnus of the Royal College of Music in London and the Alessandria Conservatoire in Piedmont, Italy, Gabriele continues to craft music that bridges cultures and captivates audiences worldwide.
