- Born in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Rafael Lopes moved to Portugal at around 9 years old with his family, where he later got a degree in Arts & Communication. During his stay in Portugal his work was broadcast in several TV channels and awarded in some of the biggest film festivals in the country.
In 2003 he moved to Barcelona (Spain), where he got a Post-Graduation in Film Directing and a Masters in Project Management. During this period he was also awarded in different film festivals, whilst he also started working with photography and it was when he published his first book ("O testamento de Zeus aos pequenos seres").
After 23 years in Europe, in 2010 he finally moved back to Rio de Janeiro, where he published his second book ("Contos daqui e Dalí") and where he continues to work as a director , with dozens of music videos and short films.
In 2024 he finished his first feature ("Whats left of us"), which was shown in dozens of international film festivals, winning several awards.
