Biography

Thomas Elsaesser was born on June 22, 1943 in Berlin, Germany. He was a director and writer, known for The Sun Island (2017), From Caligari to Hitler: German Cinema in the Age of the Masses (2014) and Film Genre (2002). He was married to Silvia Vega-Llona. He died on December 4, 2019 in Beijing, China.

Grandson of architect Martin Elsaesser on whom he made a film.
