Raphael de Almeida Pimentel started his professional animation career at Luma Pictures in 2004 as a Lead Animator and due to his keen eye and natural leadership ability, he was promoted to Animation Supervisor and later to Animation Director. In 2026 Raphael joined Zoic Studios as the Head of Animation/Animation Director, where he spearheads the Los Angeles, New York and Vancouver animation departments. He has led the animation departments on over 100 projects including Oscar winner No Country for Old Men, I Am Groot, Spider-Man: No Way Home Trilogy and The Backrooms.
Aside from directing and animating characters Raphael has also performed motion capture for over 20 characters, including body performances for Miss Minutes in Loki, Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy, Hulk and Ant-Man for Marvel and Coca-Cola's "A Mini Marvel" Super Bowl ad, Ironman, Molten Man and Dr. Stephen Strange and Dormammu in Doctor Strange.
