Biography

Jeremy Richter is an American Director, Writer and Executive Producer who is best known through the production company bearing his name (Richter Studios, based in Chicago). He served as the Writer/Director for "Discovering Deerpath" a unique feature-length documentary about the wealthy north shore town of Lake Forest, IL. Mr. Richter has also served as Director for a wide range of commercials over the years. His production company won several accolades at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards in 2016/17 and the German Design Awards in 2018.

Richter was born in Zion, IL to Alice Schank (Pankonien) and David Richter, Sr., a construction worker. His parents were of German and Irish heritage, with his mother born in Belfast, Ireland at the close of World War II. Richter means "The Judge" in German.

Richter graduated from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse in 1994 with a marketing degree. During his time as a student/athlete at the University, he was a member of four separate national championship teams between football and track. He has been married to his wife Valerie since 2000 and they have two sons together.
