Biography

Troy Greenwood is a classically trained actor and director with over 20 years of experience including diplomas and certificates from the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, University of Calgary, Leeds University and the Company of Rogues. His projects have screened in theatres internationally including major festivals including TIFF, Sundance, EIFF, and more...

In September (2025) the short film "Klee", in which Troy plays a Mountie, screened at the Toronto International Film Festival in the Strange Cuts block and other recent accolades include Best Actor at the Alberta Film and Television Awards (2024) and at the Iris Global Health Film Festival (2024) for his performance as Bobby in the film "Low". He was previously nominated for an Alberta Film and Television award in 2020 for his performance in "The Narrator".

A film close to his heart "Low" delves into the experiences of man with diabetes experiencing homelessness and the stigmas and struggles he faces accessing services and medications in the shelter system. Having screened across the country, even at Parliament, the film has become part of training in shelters and a follow up that explores Bobby's experiences in the Canadian medical system, entitled "Low Priority" is expected to premiere in Toronto in November with support from the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Films of this nature are important to Troy, and his production company HHS Production Inc. follows a mission to tell stories of personal and social significance that foster understanding, compassion and empathy... or more simply - films for the head, heart and soul.

TV credits include "Joe Pickett" and "Billy the Kid" and you may recognize his face from the national GoRving campaign "Find Your Wildhood" in which he chases his animal self through the environs of Banff and Kananaskis before jumping off a cliff into the waters of Seebe Dam and reconciling with his adventurous spirit.

Upcoming projects expected in 2026 that he's producing include the films "Torn" which follows a couple processing the trauma of a late-stage miscarriage, and the family drama "The Marrow" about a son trying to connect with his estranged family following a cancer diagnosis. He also developing a number of other projects including a feature Western screenplay "Law of the West", a television series centered around the Canadian Intelligence services, and a podcast on mental health and social issues.
