Soledad Gallego Díaz was born on April 21, 1951 in Madrid, Madrid, Spain. She is known for El País TV (2008), El País con la Constitución (2016) and Las mañanas de Cuatro (2006). She died on May 5, 2026 in Madrid, Madrid, Spain.

First female director of EL PAÍS, was a correspondent in numerous capitals and achieved the great journalistic exclusive of the Transition.

Her mother was Cuban and met Soledad's father on a trip to Spain. Her father was José Gallego-Díaz Moreno, a mathematician, communist and republican.

Correspondent in Brussels, London, Paris, New York and Buenos Aires. She was sent to numerous international events such as the end of the USSR.
