Though it IS unhealthy to have an ego for the wrong reasons, there's nothing unhealthy about having an ego (self-esteem, self-importance, self-worth, self-respect, self-image, self-confidence). Unfortunately we are taught in this society that we are never good enough. We're taught to not have faith in ourselves.

We are taught right away in life, that we can't like ourselves and/or like others for all of dumb reasons. All this has done is feed the evil in ourselves and in others. What would make a civilization want to be this way?
