Biography

Tanya Meessmann

Mini bio

  • After 5 years working in advertising Client Management, Tanya moved across into film production in 2007, first as an Agency Producer for a number of stills photo-shoots, then working as a Production Manager for 2 feature films (£200k budget ea) funded by Northern Ireland Screen, and then second Assistant Director on a third feature film funded by the Irish Film Board (1.4m Euro budget). In between these films she worked as a Producer and Production Manager on a number of commercials and corporate film projects ranging in budget between £5k up to £100k.

During this time she also independently spearheaded the production of her first short film 'Innocent Interference' before her script 'Lonely Hearts Interrupted' was selected by Northern Ireland Screen Short Steps at script stage for development and then production (£10k budget). The film went on to receive official selection in the Galway Film Festival and received an Audience aware at Houston WorldFest.

Tanya's next short film project 'A Russian Elephant in the Room' was first selected for development at script stage by NISI MASA, a European development program that workshopped the script during a 2 week retreat in France (only one script per each EU country was selected). Russian Elephant was then also selected for the NI Screen Short Steps program, however had to be withdrawn due to relocation back to London. Not one to let something like that stop her, Tanya went on to independently produce and direct the project along with fellow producer Crawford Anderson-Dillon at Hub Media, London which has gone on to be selected for 8 USA Film festivals, including Newport Beach Film Festival.

In 2009 Tanya moved back to London and continued her work as a Producer/Production Manager in commercials and short film, while still keeping an eye on screenwriters with potential projects to develop and attending various screenwriting and producing courses.

Now living back in Sydney, Australia, Tanya's long-term ambition is to produce internationally successful Australian and UK Co-production feature films.
