Scott King is an award-winning American actor, screenwriter, and producer born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and raised on Lookout Mountain by theatrical parents. The youngest of two sons, King was exposed early to both artistic expression and discipline. His mother, June King, was a professional model, while his father, Bill King-a World War II veteran who served in General George S. Patton’s Third Army-retired with the rank of Major.
King’s older brother, Brent King, was a jazz tenor saxophonist whose style drew comparisons to Dexter Gordon. He performed internationally at venues including the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Riverbend Festival, and in hundreds of clubs in Los Angeles and around the nation.
Of diverse European ancestry, King displayed a flair for performance from a young age. While attending Lookout Mountain Christian School, he became known as a class clown with a gift for impersonation-famously convincing multiple schools during a live radio broadcast that he was the British Latin teacher. He spent much of his childhood making films with friends in the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park using his father’s camera.
King attended the University of Tennessee, majoring in Art with a minor in Theater, before moving to Los Angeles at age 22 to pursue acting professionally. He studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute under Dolores Dorn and Amnon Meskin, and further honed his craft at Playhouse West with Jeff Goldblum and Mark Pellegrino. His training also includes coursework with UCLA Film Studies and the Martin Donovan Intensive Study program.
Throughout his career, King’s dedication to family led him to step away from Hollywood on multiple occasions to care for loved ones during times of illness and loss. Despite these interruptions, he built a steady career in film and television after auditioning for Martha De Laurentiis for a day-player role on King Kong Lives (1986), which earned him his SAG card. He went on to appear in numerous productions throughout the 1980s and 1990s, collaborating with notable actors and directors while also performing extensively in regional theater.
King became known for portraying antagonists with psychological depth, such as SS Commandant Heinrich Moebius in the 2012 feature Puppet Master X: Axis Rising (2012) which required a more over-the-top performance by the director and the more subtle portrayal as Jake in the independent film Intersection (2015). He received Best Actor awards for his portrayal of a young stroke victim in the 2008 film Still Me (2008).
As a screenwriter, King advanced to the Quarterfinalist and Semifinalist rounds of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting.
King is married to Sandra King, formerly with Warner Bros., The Walt Disney Company, and 20th Century Fox. They have two children: Wolfgang King, a musician whose band Melted Vinyl contributed music to the feature film Accident Man (2018), and Natalia King, a two-time Emmy Award winner with Fox Sports.
In addition to his work in front of the camera, King founded Lion Crest Pictures, a production company dedicated to developing feature films and entertainment projects.
