Biography

Maria Ressa was born on October 2, 1963 in Manila, Philippines.

Filipino-American journalist & author.

Graduated cum laude from Princeton University w/ a B.A. in English (1986).

Was adopted by her stepfather & took his last name.

Co-laureate, with Dmitry Muratov, of the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize. She was recognized for her work to defend freedom of expression in the Philippines.
