- Mario Rosales is a multifaceted artist acclaimed for his work in film, television, and the visual arts. An eleven-time New York Emmy Award winner, he is best known as the creator, director, and producer of the acclaimed documentary series "I Am A Dreamer" for CUNY TV, which earned back-to-back NY Emmy Awards for Best Show in 2022 and 2023.
His feature directorial debut, "The Return of Lencho", premiered in 2011 at the HBO Latino Film Festival in New York and later screened at the prestigious Mar del Plata Film Festival in Argentina in 2012.
Originally from Guatemala, Mario moved to New York in 2002 to pursue a Master's degree in Film Production at the City College of New York. His thesis film, "The Killing of Diogenes"-an adaptation of a short story by Augusto Monterroso-won the Best Cinematography Award at the 2004 Cityvisions Film Festival.
In 2006, he directed "Amorfo: I Searched for You", a moving tribute to the victims of the 1980 burning of the Spanish Embassy in Guatemala City. The short was selected for the renowned Huesca Film Festival in Spain in 2007, further establishing Mario's reputation as a filmmaker with a powerful and singular voice.
Beyond filmmaking, Mario is also a painter and photographer, continuously exploring new ways to express his vision across disciplines.
