Biography

In 2011 the British magazine ArtReview placed Gagosian fourth in their annual poll of "most powerful person in the art world".

Graduated in1969 with a major in English literature from UCLA.

Got his start in the art business by selling posters near the campus of UCLA in Los Angeles.

In 2025 he purchased BookHampton, an independent bookstore, in East Hampton, New York.

Worked for talent agent Michael Ovitz at the William Morris Agency.
