Streaming Stars, Then and Now

Born in China and raised in Atlanta, Fala Chen started her career as a film and television actor in Asia before attending The Juilliard School where she received her MFA in Drama. Fala's mother tongue is in Mandarin, though she is known to be multilingual, and can speak fluently in English, Cantonese, and Japanese. Fala is internationally known for her Chinese-language work which includes her lead roles in Sound of Dessert, Triumph in The Skies, Moonlight Resonance, and Peg O'my Heart. She made her US television debut in the HBO limited series The Undoing opposite Nicole Kidman for director Susanne Bier. She then appeared as a series regular opposite Alicia Vikander in Olivier Assayas' limited series adaptation of his feature Irma Vep, for HBO/A24. On the film side, Fala starred as one of the leads in the Marvel feature Shang-Chi and The Legend of Ten Rings for director Destin Daniel Cretton, opposite Awkwafina, Tony Leung, and Simu Liu. She also joined Legendary's Godzilla X Kong: New Empire. Fala will next be seen starring in Edward Berger's upcoming film Ballad of a Small Player for Netflix opposite Colin Farrell and Tilda Swinton.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Released her first Canto-pop debut album, Beautiful Life, on 31 July 2012, garnering her awards in the Best Newcomer category across various music platforms. Within a week from the launch of her album, Beautiful Life had climbed up to first place on HMV&#39;s &#39;Asian Album Top Sales Chart&#39;.

Chen was the first Chinese American actor to receive the MFA degree from the Juilliard School&#39;s drama division, when she graduated in May 2018.

Chen is Hong Kong Cancer Fund&#39;s Pink Ambassador for the Pink Revolution Campaign, which is held every October to promote breast cancer awareness and raise funds to support free services for patients and their families.

Chen&#39;s first voice-over for an animation film was for the Cantonese version of Despicable Me 3 where she was the voice of Lucy Wilde.

Chen was nominated in the Best New Performer category at the 29th Hong Kong Film Awards, when she first tried her hands in the film industry with her leading role in Turning Point.

Chen acted in her first Mainland Chinese drama, Sound of the Desert in 2012. It is based on the historical romance novel, Ballad of the Desert by Tong Hua.

In her 8 years with TVB, Chen had the opportunity to play many different roles; some requiring her to learn sign language, pole dancing, and even fly an aeroplane.

Chen&#39;s theatre debut was in 2016 where she starred as Kyra in Skylight - a Chinese adaptation of the 1995 British play written by David Hare that debuted in West End and Broadway. All 35 shows at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts were sold out within a few hours.

Chen is the spokesperson for Olay in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
