Biography

TY Walker, a Computer Science graduate of Prairie View A&M University, left his position of three years as a Strategic Business Consultant with IBM. Walker, who had dreamed of being a filmmaker since childhood, attempted to ignore the passion in order to do what everyone else expected of him. In 2003, Walker stepped out on faith and moved to Atlanta to focus on fulfilling his dream of becoming a filmmaker.

Since his debut in the industry, Walker has established relationships and received direction from distinguished directors and producers including George C. Wolfe, Spike Lee, John Singleton, Rob Hardy, Will Packer, F. Gary Gray and Doug McHenry to name a few. Absorbing the skill and advice of these great filmmakers, Walker quickly developed his own edgy and unique style of filmmaking. Walker's extraordinary vision, business savvy and penchant for learning quickly, solidified his status in the film industry. After working as a production assistant, Walker set his sights on the producer's chair. In order to fully grasp the different roles and have and accurate knowledge of the industry, Walker went on to work as an assistant director, second assistant director, 1st assistant camera, unit production manager and second unit director on projects such as "Three Can Play That Game" starring Vivica A. Fox, The Hungry Ghost, directed by Michael Imperioli and several music videos and commercials. Since 2003, Walker has studied closely under his mentors William Packer and Rob Hardy of Rainforest Films, who were behind the Box Office Hits such as Stomp The Yard, This Christmas, and Obsessed, as a Producer's Apprentice. This relationship provided him the opportunity to work on several projects with Rainforest Films and many other gifted producers and directors. In 2004, Walker established Tycor International Film Company Inc. (TIFC), to produce documentaries, music videos, commercials, short films, and feature films. Through TIFC, he has completed numerous projects including a reality show, which was directed and produced by Walker, multiple music videos, and commercials which have aired on major networks such as MTV, BET, VH1 and Fox. During the short time since his entry to the industry, Walker has also worked with several notable talents from actors to musical artists including Jamie Foxx, Akon, Boris Kodjoe, Danny Masterson, The Real Housewives of Atlanta Shree' Whitfield, Mekhi Phifer. Steve Schirripa, Jason George, Tony Rock, Terri Vaughn, T-Pain, Vivica Fox, Michael Imperioli and Idris Elba. After producing a few award winning short films and serving as production coordinator, line-producer and production manager on several feature films, Walker went on to direct a hip new financial news television show entitled "Week on the Street" airing weekly in markets across the country and developed his own feature films. In addition to his television work, Walker has produced and directed a documentary "BELIEVE", which was released worldwide on DVD and television. His determination and unwillingness to accept "no" for an answer have blessed Walker to quickly maneuver in an industry which thrives on rejection and the swift "no" which deters many and which is allowing him to currently produce several feature films.

Walker continues to strengthen his resume', experience, and exposure to the industry by selectively choosing projects that challenge him and allow him the freedom to go beyond the banal way of thinking so that his work can provoke others' thought and creativity. He continues to make contributions to the industry that will leave a lasting cultural impact on filmmakers, actors, and audiences. Walker continuously seeks opportunities to expand his knowledge and expertise while refusing to compromise the standard of quality which the TIFC brand carries.

Through his work, Walker's primary goal is to always be thought of as one who brings a new intensity in creativity to the screen. He tests the limits and dares his colleagues to tap into the areas of the industry that have been left unscathed. With his work, he transcends racial boundaries and geographical lines to affect widespread change. His interpersonal skills, coupled with his humility, passion and creativity have sealed Walker's recognition in the film industry.
