Fahmi Farahat is an award-winning international filmmaker and producer with 20 years of experience. A graduate of California State University, Fullerton (BA in Radio, TV & Film, 2006). Throughout his career, Farahat has cultivated a diverse portfolio spanning documentary, narrative, and experimental. Credits include the critically acclaimed The Wedding Dress (2015), which garnered recognition at festivals including the Dubai International Film Festival and the International Filmmakers Festival of World Cinema in Berlin. He co-produced A Father Taken (2007), winner of the Audience Choice Award at Newport Beach Film Festival. He also served as an Associate Producer on the award-winning film Three Veils (2011). In 2020, he produced the live-streamed feature-length interactive film/theater piece Yajuj: Curse of Iram, demonstrating his forward-thinking approach to cinematic engagement by utilizing digital platforms to redefine genre filmmaking in the Middle Eastern context. Farahat’s production philosophy is rooted in a blend of institutional rigor and independent creative agility. Having worked on high-profile commissions for VICE, MBC Group, and Aramco, he possesses extensive expertise in managing complex production logistics, digital workflows, and cross-cultural collaborations. As the founder of Dramaturgys, he is developing original projects and is dedicated to building sustainable, high-impact co-productions that bring distinctive regional voices to global audiences.
