Pseudo Echo are a nifty and engaging rock band from Melbourne, Australia. The group was formed in 1982 by high school friends Brian Canham (vocals/guitar/keyboards) and Pierre Gigliotti (bass/keyboards) The other original members were Anthony Agiro (drums) and Tony Lugton (guitar/keyboards). Pseudo Echo released their debut album "Autumnal Park" in 1984. The group quickly became the second biggest rock outfit in Australia right after INXS. Pseudo Echo landed seven singles altogether on the Aussie Top 10 radio charts that include "Listening," "A Beat for You," "Don't Go," and "Living in a Dream." The catchy song "His Eyes" was featured on the soundtrack for "Friday the 13th: A New Beginning." Agiro and Lugton subsequently left the group; they were replaced by the brothers James and Vince Leigh. The band released their second album "Love an Adventure" in 1986. That same year Pseudo Echo won both "Most Popular Band" and "Best Male Performers" at Australia's Countdown Awards. Moreover, the group scored a massive worldwide smash with their extremely punchy and inspired cover of Lipps Inc.'s supremely soulful anthem "Funky Town": The song peaked at #6 on the US Billboard pop charts, went all the way to #8 on the UK pop charts in July, 1987, and stayed at #1 for seven straight weeks in their native Australia. Pseudo Echo released their third and final album "Race" in 1989; this album proved to be a lackluster commercial success and the group disbanded in 1990. The band reunited in 1999 and recorded the EP "Funkytown Y2K: RMX." This was followed by the double CD "Teleporter" in 2000. Pseudo Echo continue to tour Down Under and played two sold out shows in Adelaide, Australia in April, 2010.
