Biography

Ryan Andrew Cannon is an Emmy-nominated Creative Director and Producer for film, animation, games and new media in the US and EMEA markets. Born and raised in California, USA, Ryan received his BA in English from Sacramento State University, and his MFA degree in Producing from the American Film Institute Conservatory in Hollywood, where he interned under Wolfgang Petersen (Troy, Neverending Story).

After graduate school, he produced his first feature film. It was screened at the South by Southwest Film Festival and distributed by Netflix. From there he got into animation development under the guidance of Terry Thoren (Rugrats, The Wild Thornberrys).

For over 15 years in Los Angeles, his animation projects were with clients like PBS, Dreamworks, and Dr. Seuss. His award-winning educational animation clients were the Betty Ford Center, Boy Scouts of America, Barbara Sinatra Children's Center and TeachTown. His work on PBS Kids "SciGirls, Season 2" earned him an Emmy Nomination for Outstanding New Approaches.

His experience in educational content is vast and even included developing educational products and curriculum which teaches storytelling to children. His StoryMaker product allowed the first animated feature film created by children "The WonderGrove Wizard of Oz" to be screened at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

Ryan's award-winning short film "Are You Okay?" (2021) won Best Animation at the One-Reeler Film Competition and was the Grand Jury Prize winner at the San Diego International Kids Film Festival.

He resides in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia where he works as a Creative Director overseeing animated features, TV shows, and product development for all ages.
