Biography

Maia has two short films to her credit, including the 2006 short "Sandcastle," directed by Katrin Bowen; and the 2009 dramatic short "Amy's End," directed by Tracy D. Smith.

In "Sandcastle," Maia plays Julie, one of two children to stumble upon an abandoned engagement ring on a beach. As part of the Crazy8s Event, "Sandcastle" was allotted just eight days total for pre-production, production and post, on a budget of $800. Maia spent her ninth birthday on set; one of two blustery, cool days spent on Vancouver's Jericho Beach with next to no rehearsal time for the cast. "Sand Castle" went on to win the event's Cultural Diversity Award.

In the short thriller "Amy's End," Maia's character Emma endures the horror of a home invasion. "Amy's End" premiered at the 2010 ThrillSpy International Film Festival in Washington, D.C., where it was awarded best short film. "Amy's End" was directed by Tracy D. Smith ("Taming Tammy"), and written and produced by Tihemme Gagnon ("The Puppet Life," "Crash Test Mommy.")

In addition to her short film appearances, Maia has graced her school's stage in numerous productions, ranging from sketch comedies to dramas, and even a multi-media event in which she appeared both on stage and screen in various roles. She is also a member of her school's Junior Improv Team. She plans to continue to act in films and on stage, so long as it's fun.

In addition to acting, Maia enjoys hiking, biking, swimming and making her own ultra-short mockummercials with her mother's frequently missing cell phone.
