Biography

Tim Harrison (AMPS MPSE) is a BIFA-winning sound designer and composer known for Saipan, Flux Gourmet and Black Mirror.

In 2005 he founded narrative audio company Aumeta, cutting his teeth on shortform before designing first feature Sus (2009), collaborating with Tate Modern and Ai Weiwei on Sunflower Seeds (2010) and working with Damon Albarn on The Boy in the Oak (2012).

Recent years have seen him work on Black Mirror (2018), Censor (2021, BIFA-nominated), Flux Gourmet (2022, BIFA winner) and Saipan (2025, IFTA-nominated).

In 2010 he launched production company Studio Murmur with Ian Pons Jewell, creating a series of award-winning music videos. Alongside promos for DJ Shadow and Crystal Fighters, he produced viral hit La La La by Naughty Boy ft. Sam Smith, which won Best Video at the 2013 MOBO Awards and has received over 1.3 billion views on YouTube. He also co-directed and coded an innovative interactive video for Vessels' album Helioscope (2013) and directed I Woke Up Before I Went To Sleep (2016), both of which screened at international film festivals.

From 2008 to 2022 he was an Associate Lecturer at University of the Arts London, culminating in Sound Design for Film (2021), which has become one of the best-selling film sound books on the market. And his musical project recur released its debut album A Strange Loop in 2025, featuring arrangements by Richard Jones (Pulp, Anna Meredith, Pet Shop Boys), performances by the Ligeti Quartet & Jack Wyllie (Portico Quartet, Szun Waves) and mixing by Richard Formby (Spaceman 3, Wild Beasts).

His recent focus has been on VR & game development, with Maya: Birth of A Superhero (2024) competing in the immersive strands of Tribeca, SXSW & Cannes, while his role as president of professional association kultura lotuz sees him promoting international co-production within the Basque Country.
