Biography

Gal Ziv embarked on his cinematic journey at the tender age of eight, transforming his parents' house into an impromptu movie theater where he screened Disney films for friends and family. Armed with a GAF View-Master projector, a gift from his uncle, his passion for filmmaking ignited, quickly establishing him as a promising talent within his circle.

During his formative years, Gal dedicated himself to crafting a myriad of short films. At just sixteen, he unveiled "Lavan," a gripping 25-minute chase-film set in his hometown of Herzeliya. This early success fueled his determination, encouraging him to continue writing and directing short films before venturing to Los Angeles.

In 2002, Gal earned a degree in cinema production from L.A. City College, seizing every opportunity to gather invaluable experience within Hollywood's bustling landscape. His tenure involved working on sets and within renowned studios, expanding his expertise. Upon returning to Israel, he apprenticed as an assistant director under esteemed Israeli filmmakers, diversifying his skill set.

Gal's repertoire spans diverse projects, from editing for Israeli television to producing and directing infomercials, instructional films, commercials, and promos for various production houses. His deep love for film and cinema resonates in his original creations, exemplified by "RomanticA," a short film inspired by the artistry of Edward Hopper, and "Findher," a psychological thriller set in Tel Aviv. "An Afghan Night," a Sci-Fi comedy, won two awards at the 48-Hour Film Project in Tel Aviv, standing out for its imaginative storytelling. "Trees" also won Best Commercial Short. Gal directed other notable films, including "Everglades," a horror film, and several TV projects. Additionally, he curates a unique YouTube channel showcasing short films and cinematic videos. His latest creation, "Spaceship," garnered rave reviews, numerous nominations, and swiftly amassed views on YouTube. His recent film, "Another Year," artfully combines drama, sci-fi, and suspense in a compelling narrative.

A fervent cinephile, Gal remains resolute in his quest to challenge cinematic norms, aspiring to create films that defy convention and offer audiences a unique cinematic experience. His dedication to pushing boundaries and exploring uncharted storytelling avenues defines his visionary approach to filmmaking.
